Farm Bill Resource Center : Bill to End Double Dipping
H.R. 5203 and S. 2512, introduced by Sen. Jeff Flake, R- Ariz., and Rep. John Duncan, R-Tenn., would end farm subsidy "double dipping," a situation where a farmer can get paid twice by taxpayer subsidies for the same loss. The bill would require that farmers to elect to receive either traditional farm subsidies, price loss coverage or agriculture risk coverage, or federally subsidized crop insurance, saving taxpayers an estimated $60 billion over 10 years.
