Amazon To Ban ‘Forever Chemicals’ From Its Amazon Kitchen Brand

WASHINGTON – Today Amazon announced it will ban the toxic fluorinated “forever chemicals” known as PFAS from its Amazon Kitchen brand products.

Amazon’s chemical policy encourages manufacturers to phase out potentially hazardous chemicals from its products, to reduce harm to human health and the environment. PFAS compounds have been linked to an increased risk of cancer, reduced effectiveness of vaccines and other serious health hazards.

Here is a statement from Scott Faber, EWG’s senior vice president for government affairs:

It’s good news that Amazon is moving to ban the use of PFAS in food packaging and other household products. Recent studies show that the PFAS building up in the blood of every American could be making vaccines less effective. It’s critically important that we eliminate nonessential uses of PFAS in household products.
