Subsidized Farmer Says Churches, not Government, Should Help the Poor

Rep. Stephen Fincher (R-Tenn.) invoked the bible in support of a $20 billion cut to feeding assistance programs.

Citing scripture, Fincher said “the one unwilling to eat will not work.”

During debate by the House Agriculture Committee, Fincher neglected to mention that he has received $3.4 million in taxpayer-funded farm subsidies between 1999 and 2011.
