Where are PFAS Chemicals Found?
These maps show the location of thousands of drinking water systems, industrial sites and Department of Defense facilities that are known to be, or suspected of being, contaminated with the toxic fluorinated chemicals known as PFAS.
Locations were mapped using the best available data preserved in official records, including data provided by tests of public drinking water systems, the Safe Drinking Water Information System and the Department of Defense; through Freedom of Information Act requests; and from public databases such as the Environmental Protection Agency’s Chemical Data Reporting Rule database and Enforcement and Compliance History Online, plus a survey by the New York Department of Environmental Conservation.
These maps are dynamic. The contaminant sites, results, suspected sources and other information in the database may change because of evolving science, new information or other factors.
