Use the sliders on the left to query counties by the percent of each sensitive landscape that is being cropped, the percent of cropland that received fertilizer or manure or both, and total government payments made in that county. Zoom in and click on counties to see more detail about how much cropland is on sensitive landscapes and the amount of USDA program payments that were received from 2014 to 2020.
Sensitive landscapes are defined as highly erodible land, or HEL, potential wetland soil landscapes, 100-year floodplain and riparian corridors (cropping within 300 feet of river shoreline). Cropland areas represented on the map were derived from USDA’s Cropland Data Layer.
