The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a leading environmental health research and advocacy organization, is seeking a Digital Production Associate for its Washington, D.C. office. 

Under the direction of the Senior Digital Marketing Manager, the Digital Production Associate is responsible for helping manage our email list, produce fundraising and advocacy emails, generate regular reports on our email program, and develop a role in online advocacy, fundraising, social media and list growth strategy.

We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic self-starter who will work with the Digital Vice President and Marketing Managers to help create superior digital communications and assess their performance. 

About EWG

EWG is a midsize nonprofit with a supersize digital presence: 400,000 active email addresses, 26 million website visits and 1 million social followers. This digital presence drives one-third of EWG’s revenue, generates all of its grassroots advocacy, and is the primary distribution channel for EWG’s content and research.

And what we do is awesome: We fight for the right of all Americans to live in an environment free of toxic chemicals. We do this by educating consumers about what chemicals lurk in their personal environment – including their water, food, personal care products and cleaners – and empowering them to fight for better products and policies. 

Responsibilities: 
  • Build and send HTML emails, including test across browsers, platforms and devices for all deployments.
  • Segment email list as needed.
  • Create and test marketing landing pages, including fundraising, advocacy and event pages.
  • Coordinate with Senior Digital Strategist to support and maintain the digital calendar, including requests and rescheduling.
  • Create weekly reports on digital fundraising and advocacy metrics to help the Digital team make data-driven decisions about ongoing strategy.
  • Run queries, create reports and share analytics upon request.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions to develop campaign ideas and improve digital efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: 
  • 1 to 3 years’ work experience in digital marketing; experience in email marketing preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and grasp of online metrics and statistics.
  • HTML/CSS knowledge required.
  • Knowledge and past use of JavaScript.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. You never drop the ball.
  • Knowledge of non-profit digital marketing platform or CRM. This includes, but not limited to, EveryAction, Salsa Labs or Blue State Digital Tools.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Self-sufficient, curious, eager to learn new skills and solve problems creatively.
  • Time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Google Analytics experience.
  • Working knowledge of UX and email industry best practices.
