The Environmental Working Group (EWG) is a fast-paced, innovative non-profit seeking an organized, motivated individual to join our DC office. Our mission is to empower people to live healthier lives in healthier environments.

EWG’s Development Administrative Assistant position is a full-time position based in the Washington, DC office that interacts with the general public, EWG’s robust online community, donors and consultants. This person will work within all of the development program areas, which include: online engagement, event management, private sector management, foundation relations and individual giving.

  • Provide executive assistance to several Development managers.  This includes keeping calendars, completing timesheets, submitting expense reports, and maintaining correspondence files. 
  • As EWG’S first point of contact, this person will respond to donor inquiries, monitor [email protected] email and pass along messages as needed to the rest of the team.
  • Arrange travel, serve as proofreader, and provide general administrative assistance such as copying, faxing, scanning, check entry, distributing mail, and maintaining files for members of the development team.
  • Handle outgoing EWG mailings and assist with publication production and distribution, including assisting in mailing weekly donor thank you letters and the annual year-end appeal mailing.
  • Assist with foundation relationship needs, including but not limited to adding and confirming all current grant details and deadlines in Salesforce and keeping grant agreements up to date in Dropbox.
  • Assist the online engagement team with data needs, including learning our CMS and being trained to pull donor records, reports and other weekly assignments.
  • Assist with annual events, including galas, EWG leadership lunches and community happy hours.
  • Assist with EWG's Sun Safety Campaign and corporate partners.
  • Other duties, as assigned. This is a “roll up your sleeves” position.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated commitment to the environment and public health issues (strongly preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Related experience in non-profit sector (preferred)
  • Related experience handling customers or general public on the phone or via email
  • Outstanding attention to detail; dedication to go the extra mile
  • Computer literacy (Internet, Excel, Word, and Outlook) and familiarity with Macs
  • Experience using online fundraising platforms or CRM, such as EveryAction, Salsa Labs or Blue State Digital Tools, preferred.
  • Some travel required
  • Sense of humor a plus
