WASHINGTON – President Trump’s executive order gutting the Clean Power Plan shows his disregard for protecting public health and the environment, said EWG President Ken Cook.
“It is alarmingly apparent that the thirst President Trump has for wreaking havoc on the environment and human health cannot be quenched,” said Cook.

It is alarmingly apparent that the thirst President Trump has for wreaking havoc on the environment and human health cannot be quenched. Gutting the Obama administration's initiative to curb air pollution means more children will suffer life-threatening asthma attacks, more adults will die early, and the battle to beat back the global crisis of climate change will be in peril. This is a shameful display of his contempt for protecting public health and the environment.
Instead of waking up each day with the goal of protecting the American people, as a president should, Trump seems hell-bent on the destroying programs in place to safeguard public health and the environment. In the alternative universe of the White House, the president and his administration are taking the U.S in a dangerous direction that is going to mean more human suffering – here at home and throughout the world. Just as Americans did when Trump attempted to assault health care, we must all rise up and resist this attack.
