Campaign to connect conservation to public health proved successful

April 2014, Our new remote sensing and landscape analysis capacity, led by Soren Rundquist and Craig Cox, visually told the story of damages industrial agriculture inflicts. Their report “Broken Stream Banks” showed that 170 waterways in southern Minnesota lacked required vegetation strips that would have prevented farm runoff from polluting rivers. Their August report, “‘Washout’ Revisited,” demonstrated that ephemeral gullies still ravaged many fields.
