Born and raised in Bolivia, Jose arrived in the United States at age 13. After graduating from Wakefield High School in Virgina, he earned a B.A. in biology and a masters degree in global health from George Mason University. Before joining EWG, Jose worked as an environmental science fellow at the Center for Health, Environment & Justice for more than two years and on projects for the Pan American Health Organization and National Children’s Hospital. He brings to the EWG team a scientific background in biochemistry and an expertise in global public health. In his spare time, Jose enjoys playing and watching soccer, playing the electric bass and supporting higher education as an active member in the board of directors of the organization United for Social Justice (USJ).
