PBDE-190 was not found in any of the 10 umbilical cord blood samples from babies born in U.S. hospitals in 2004. It was found in 1 of 3 adult blood samples, at a concentration of 65.9 pg/g (lipid weight, in whole blood).
Brominated flame retardants used in plastics. Break down into more toxic and persistent forms in the environment. Withdrawn from the market in the U.S. in 2005.
