1,2,3,7,8-PeCDF (pentafuran) was found in 1 of 10 umbilical cord blood samples from babies born in U.S. hospitals in 2004, at a concentration of 2.9 pg/g (lipid weight, in whole blood). It was also found in 3 of 3 adult blood samples, at concentrations ranging from 4.8 to 7.7 pg/g (lipid weight, in whole blood).
In chlorinated furan family of chemicals - pollutants from PVC production, industrial bleaching, incineration; cause cancer, may harm hormone system.
