PFPeA (Perfluoro-n-pentanoic acid) was found in 2 of 10 umbilical cord blood samples from babies born in U.S. hospitals in 2004, at concentrations of 0.3 and 0.4 ng/g (wet weight, in whole blood).
Breakdown product of stain- and grease-proof coatings on food packaging, couches, carpets. A 5-carbon version of PFOA; persistent.
