EWG Hires Leading Digital Innovator

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Michael Cervino, a veteran leader in digital analysis and strategic planning with more than two decades of experience, has joined the Environmental Working Group (EWG) as its Chief Technology Officer.

“This hire is part of EWG's broader commitment to ‘go to the next level’ in how we use big data, scientific analysis and online and mobile tools to move policy, consumers and markets,” EWG Executive Director Heather White said. “Michael has been an innovator in engaging consumers and decision-makers through web technologies and mobile services, and we couldn’t be happier to have him on our team.”

Cervino’s work experience includes developing and executing successful digital strategies for the AFL-CIO and leading non-profits such as the ACLU, Conservation International, Easter Seals, Feeding America, Heifer Project International, Human Rights First, Public Citizen, and the Trust for Public Land. He has designed and implemented strategic blueprints for public advocacy and fundraising campaigns for 15 non-profit clients that generated more than $240 million in donations and motivated one million individuals to take public action.

“I’m so excited to be joining EWG,” Cervino said. “My passion is to learn and teach the tools that can create healthy communities, and at no time in history are the tools that can inspire people to live sustainably more available.”

“Cervino's unique background in technology, online marketing, fundraising, web strategy and consumer-focused engagement matches the DNA of what EWG does,” EWG president and co-founder Ken Cook said. “He brings considerable talent and will help EWG grow its scale and reach.”
