NPR: White House Threatens to Veto Farm Bill

Morning Edition Intro, May 14, 2008 ยท The House and Senate could vote as early as Wednesday on a farm bill. Critics say the bill would offer $5 billion a year in direct cash payments to farmers whether or not they need the money. President Bush calls that unnecessary spending and threatens to veto.
