PFCs: Global Contaminants: Cookware containing PFCs

A lot of people can relate to the experience of forgetting about a pot or pan on the stove or in the oven. Despite warnings on non-stick cookware about exceeding certain temperature limits, the reality of busy lives and distractions in the kitchen allows for the possibility that forgotten pans may reach temperatures beyond their stated limits. When this happens with Teflon-like products, PFCs can be released into the air inside your home. Cookware such as broiling pans, grill baskets and roasting pans in particular are subjected to high temperatures during normal use, so when one of these is forgotten, off-gassing of PFCs is even more likely.
