Action Alert: Sign Onto Our Letter

Comments to U.S. Food and Drug Administration
Docket: FDA Regulated Products Containing Nanotechnology Materials
Docket number: 2006N-0107

Tell FDA: No nanotech until we know it is safe

Sign onto our letter, and we'll add your name to the list of those who support EWG's campaign to ensure the safety of nanotech in personal care products.

An Environmental Working Group (EWG) analysis found that more than 250 products on the market today contain one or more of 57 different types of nano-scale or micronized ingredients identified on product labels. Another 9,500 products contain ingredients that are available in nano-form, but were not labeled as either nano-sized or conventional-sized on the label.

None of the nano-scale materials identified have been substantiated for safety by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the industry's own Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel (CIR).

I support EWG's efforts to force the FDA to require manufacturers to clearly label nanomaterials and conduct thorough safety evaluations of nanotechnology in personal care products, through an open, transparent process, focused on protection of the public health, including groups of potentially vulnerable individuals.
