Before being paid by Ford, Bickerstaff says that the stability index is a "major factor" in predicting rollover propensity. The Bronco II had one of the lowest stability index ratings of any vehicle on the market when it was introduced. After being paid by Ford, Bickerstaff begins testifying untruthfully that the stability factor is not particularly important, and that it is just a relative measure.
