Troubling report

Published September 29, 2003

The Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit research group in Washington, D.C., reported some alarming news last week. A small study found toxic fire retardant chemicals in the breast milk of all 20 new mothers tested.

TThe bromine-based chemicals are used in cars, furniture and computers. They build up in the body over a lifetime.

TThe organization continues to recommend breast-feeding, while calling for phasing out the chemicals. You can read the report at www.ewg.org.
