Cellphones to sugars: Kids just wanna have fun, but what cost?

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Today) 9/15/08 – The world is on toxin and radiation overload according to the latest scientific reports, and kids have become the most vulnerable victims. Childhood autism, cancer and diabetes caused by environmental factors and toxins are increasing at an alarming rate, and occurring at younger ages. Children are breathing, eating, drinking and absorbing a huge assortment of hazards from everything from foods to cell phones.
Fortunately, there are some basic ways to protect children such as strengthening their immune systems, monitoring their diets as well as other steps to protect them from environmental toxins and other health perils.
These threats have become overwhelming with numerous studies confirming the extent of danger from toxins and other hazards and the resultant illnesses.
Autism has increased from 1 in 10,000 cases in 1980 to one in 100. New evidence from the University of Texas Health Science Center shows a direct link between the risk for autism and the distance from a mercury source.
Diabetes has become a global epidemic and children are dealing with this disease before they even have an opportunity to enjoy their childhood. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of all babies born in the U.S. in the year 2000, at least 1/3 will become diabetics. This is seen world-wide as children continue to consume high fructose corn syrup, processed sugar, dyes, artificial flavorings plus their increasing exposure to toxic chemicals. When refined sugar replaced molasses, sugar consumption was averaging 10 pounds per person each year. Currently, that sugar consumption has jumped to an average above 147 pounds per person per year. Children are degenerating before our eyes and sugar plays a major role. Refined sugar removes 90% of the sugar cane components which takes out the nutrients and leaves empty, but very dangerous calories.
From 1973 to 1996, childhood brain cancer increased by 26% and continues to rise specifically related to cell phone usage. This is a major problem as cell phone usage has exploded, going from one billion users in 2004 to over 4 billion users in 2007. Countries around the world are becoming alarmed at the rising incidence of parotid gland tumors as well as malignant and benign brain tumors – all occurring on the side of the head that the cell phone is most commonly used. In February 23, 2008, a New Scientist study demonstrated that, harmful molecular level changes take place in response to exposure to electromagnetic frequencies emitted from cell phones. This is extremely dangerous, especially in the young developing brain. Be aware that your headset raises the amount of radiation emissions by more than 300%.
Since 1980, childhood asthma has increased more than 80%, with childhood asthma and deaths are increasing more than 118% between 1980 and 1993 (EPA).
One of the best examples of what is happening is brought to light in a research study published by the Journal of the American Medical Association on the effects of Allopurinol on blood pressure of adolescents with essential hypertension. This study of a drug intervention (with a drug for the treatment of gout) is for young people with elevated blood pressure. There are two glaring problems- the first is that adolescents should NOT be experiencing elevated blood pressure especially of the essential type.
The second problem is that instead of developing a drug treatment for this problem, it seems much more prudent to determine the cause. Toxic contamination, food, drink, vaccines and personal care products should all be considered as contributing factors. We should be preventing our children from suffering these degenerative diseases and from becoming lab rats for the profit of the pharmaceutical industry.
In the year 2000, the National Academy of Sciences reports that 1/2 of all pregnancies in the U.S. result in less than healthy babies. Up to 1/3 of the developmental defects in these babies are caused by exposure to toxic chemicals.

Infant mortality rates have increased for the first time since 1958. It is now twice that of Japan and most other industrialized nations.
In 1920, synthetic chemicals in the marketplace were an average one million pounds per year, currently we have passed the 140 billion plateau per year. This is another major reason our children are suffering from toxic degeneration and experiencing a childhood of obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune diseases, asthma and it goes on and on…
MSG was identified by a chemist in Japan in 1908. By 1948, the use of MSG doubled every decade in processed foods. It continues to be found in baby food today. This is ongoing despite the fact that MSG has proved to trigger dozens of toxic reactions in our cells, including brain cells.
50 years ago, perfluorochemicals used in Teflon and other nonstick cooking pans were first introduced. Today, blood tests reveal that 96% of North American children have at least one of these carcinogenic chemicals in their bloodstream.
From 1973-1996, childhood leukemia increased by 17% and there is an increased risk for leukemia where parents have used pesticides prior to the child’s birth.
In 1985, a medical study out of England reported that 79% of hyperactive children improve when artificial colorings and flavorings are removed from their diet.
Drinking water now contains pharmaceutical drugs, including, but not limited to: antibiotics, chemotherapy drugs, hormones, analgesics. In some cities in the United States, E-Coli has been found in the drinking water.
Every square inch of the earth is now contaminated to one degree or another with chemical pollutants, most of which are carcinogenic. Over the next 15 years, chemical production is expected to climb 80%. Toxins are carried by the winds, waters, rain and snow around the planet and there is no place to hide. There are toxins in and outside of the home, with those in the home showing 5 times higher than those outside. These toxins are in our air, soil, food, drinking water, personal care and cleaning products.
The Environmental Working Group (EWG) recently revealed the results of their investigation of toxic fire retardants in parents and their children. The EWG found that toddlers and preschoolers typically had 3x as much of these hormone-disrupting chemicals in their blood as their mothers. They are particularly toxic to developing brain cells causing permanent changes to behavior, including hyperactivity.
Another example of total disregard for our children is the use of bisphenol A (BPA). This chemical is found in some plastic baby bottles and sippy cups and the chemical leaches into the formula or drink. Never place these articles in the dishwasher or microwave – better yet, throw them away and use glass bottles. BPA is also found in the lining of canned goods. BPA has shown to increase cancer cell growth and affect hormone systems that guide much of the permanent development of infant’s breasts and prostate.
In the largest study of chemical exposure ever conducted on humans, the CDC found more than one hundred toxic substances in the bodies of 2400 people tested. Children were found to carry higher levels of these synthetic chemicals than adults.
The cells cannot keep up with this level of abuse as shown by the relentless increase in disease among the children of the world. Without the ability to detoxify, cells become a victim of disease. Approximately 90% of chronic diseases are caused by environmental factors that adversely affect our cells and all disease starts in the cells.
To date, consumers have been the unsuspecting lab animals for chemical and drug companies who have been allowed to market their products without ensuring those products will not damage human health or the environment. The consumer lab rats suffering the most are our children. At the very least, children are now facing the trials of medical intervention with painful drug tests, diagnostic studies and treatment, but many have an even worse fate.
Bans or drug retractions have been imposed only after the damage has been done.
There is hope, but parents must be proactive about their child’s health and take steps to reduce contamination as much as possible. How? Remove as many toxins as possible from your children’s environment. This includes from their food, drinks, personal care and cleaning products. .
Unfortunately, you can eliminate many, but not all of the threats to your child’s health which makes it even more critical to maximize your child’s immune system. All health and disease starts in the cells and it is imperative that you insure the cell health of your child. Believe it or not, this can be easily accomplished.
While poor nutrition contributes to your child’s risk of disease, good nutrition helps your child’s body function at its highest level. For additional information on how to increase cellular protection for your child go to:
