A 25-page report released Thursday by EWG is entitled “The Revenue Insurance Boondoggle: A Taxpayer-Paid Windfall for Industry.” With a touch of irony, Iowa State University economist Bruce Babcock, an author of the report, notes that the revenue insurance subsidies per acre for most crops “are much greater than the direct payments that have received so much attention from budget-cutters.”
