Seasoned Capitol Hill Reporter Joins EWG Public Affairs Staff

Washington, D.C. – The Environmental Working Group is pleased to announce the arrival of Sara Sciammacco as the newest member of its public affairs team as a press secretary.

She comes to EWG after eight years as a broadcast journalist. Most recently she worked as a political reporter for Capitol News Connection covering the U.S. Congress for public radio stations. Her work focused on agricultural policy, health care reform, education, energy and the environment. Her coverage of the 2008 farm bill highlighted the inequities in federal farm subsidy programs.

“We are thrilled to have an experienced reporter like Sara join the other award-winning journalists on our staff. Her experience covering the nuts and bolts of crafting the last farm bill will be an invaluable asset as we begin work on what will be America’s first food and farm bill,” said EWG president Ken Cook.

Prior to coming to Washington, Sciammacco was a television reporter at New England Cable News in Boston. She also held reporting positions at WJAR-TV in Providence, R.I. and KOTA-TV in Rapid City, S.D. She began her career as news director and morning anchor at WSAR-AM in Fall River, Mass.

She is a former National Press Foundation Paul Miller fellow and holds a bachelors degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland-College Park.
