Mercury: Twice as Many Newborns at Risk for Developmental, Learning Problems

Twice as many children are exposed each year to dangerously high levels of mercury while in the womb as previously thought, according to a new U.S. EPA report.

"This increases the urgency for the FDA to correct the misinformation it is giving the public and for the Bush administration to crack down on mercury pollution from coal-fired power plants," said Jane Houlihan, a scientist with the Environmental Working Group.
