Group: Fluoride in Metropolitan Water District Puts Kids at Risk

Published August 21, 2007

Aug. 20, 2007 (KABC-TV) - An environmental consumer group wants to get the Metropolitan Water District (MWD) to halt their plans to add fluoride to drinking water. The Environmental Working Group believes that adding fluoride to the drinking water will put kids at risk because they say children will be exposed to an unsafe dose of fluoride. A representative of the California Society of Pediatric Dentists says fluoride is one of the most widely-studied substances, and that most experts agree the amount put into the water supply is completely safe for young children. The MWD plans to fluoridate their drinking water in October. Copyright © 2007 KABC-TV. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
