Farmed Salmon Contains High Levels Of PCBS

Farmed-raised salmon contains far higher levels of PCBs than those in the wild, according to a Environmental Working Group study to be released today (Andrew Martin, Chicago Tribune).
EWG researchers, who studied 10 samples of farmed salmon, found PCB levels at about five to 10 times higher than than those in wild salmon. The average levels of PCBs in farmed salmon are 27 parts per billion, while wild salmon's average levels are about 5 ppb.
