EWG to Wood Industry: 'Good Riddance'

Published February 1, 2003

After more than 80 years of operation, the American Wood Preservers Institute has let its five full-time employees go and outsourced its operations to an association-management firm. The Fairfax, Va.-based institute represents the pressure-treated wood industry, whose products are used for a variety of building purposes, including the construction of playgrounds and backyard decks... "We haven't been this sad since the day the Tobacco Institute shut down," EWG President Ken Cook said in a statement. "We say, 'Good riddance.'"
