According To A New Study Sunscreens May Do More Harm Then Good

Published July 1, 2008

According to a new report released by the Environmental Working Group in the U.S, sunscreens may be harmful as four out of five sunscreens have proven to be inadequate or pose excess health risks to the consumer. Sean Gray, Senior Analyst, Environmental Working Group, helped compile the guide after testing about 1,000 products. Gray is worried about increased skin absorption of the chemicals, increased allergies, hormone problems and reproductive problems. However, there is not real proof since the sunscreen standards are not up to par. The FDA has not finalized sunscreen standards first announced 30 years ago.
