Technical Support Specialist

Is Internship: 

EWG seeks a technical support specialist that will maintain and improve EWG’s technical capacity.  This role involves working in a dynamic, fast-paced and interdisciplinary environment that values flexibility, responsiveness and enthusiastic engagement with peers and supervisors. 

EWG’s technical support specialist is expected to interact with all levels of the organization to support the IT needs of the staff.  They will train users on the use of hardware, software, and web-based programs.  They will investigate and propose the use of new systems and will maintain, diagnose and fix problems with current EWG systems.

  • Deliver hardware and software support to EWG staff in person and over the phone;
  • Setup and maintain EWG computers and systems;
  • Diagnose and solve hardware and software issues;
  • Train and help EWG staff use various web- and computer-based software programs;
  • Help orient new staff members to EWG systems;
  • Find new software/hardware solutions to improve efficiency across the organization;
  • Work with other members of EWG staff on various technology initiatives;
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Experience with Macintosh computers;
  • Experience in hardware and software support;
  • Experience in training end-users on software and web-based solutions;
  • Competency in end-user support of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook);
  • Experience with LINUX, Amazon AWS, HTML, JavaScript, Asterisk or Drupal a plus;
  • Excellent organization, communications and multi-tasking skills, with attention to detail;
  • Ability to stay flexible in responding to day-to-day changes in priorities;
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 3 years of professional experience in business or government. Professional or non-professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for required college education.

Location: Washington, D.C.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience. EWG provides excellent benefits and participates in a 403(b) retirement plan.
